Dash-cam footage of motorcyclist's rage against a van driver exonerates driver

Maritime Transport trucker Tony Bradford was overtaken at speed by a motorcyclist just before a mini roundabout, causing the biker to nudge the side of a van turning right and crash to the ground.

Thankfully, the biker escaped with a few bruises but the radiator on his motorcycle was wrecked.  He immediately showed his disgust following the collision by standing up, raising the visor of his helmet and angrily throwing his gloves to the side of the road.

The driver of the van stopped after the collision and exchanged details with the angry motorcyclist who was still fuming over the damage to his bike. The van was not damaged and the police were not called even though the biker could have been prosecuted for careless driving.

The accident happened on 27th June, and Maritime Transport released the footage captured on a £249.99 SmartWitness KP1 camera this week to show how dash-cams can protect drivers. Maritime Transport could have been facing a convoluted insurance claim, but the SmartWitness footage completely exonerated its driver.

SmartWitness sales director Mark Berry said: "This accident perfectly illustrates the value of dash-cams to all drivers. The footage establishes very quickly who is to blame for an accident and makes the whole business of claiming on insurance far, far simpler. The only people who lose out are bad and reckless drivers.
