Fleet consultancy service claims savings of £64m for new clients

Launched 14 months ago by experienced fleet professional Marcus Puddy, PVS provides a cradle to grave advisory and management service to businesses operating vans and company cars and a consultancy to contract hire and leasing companies, manufacturers and dealers.

The company works to deliver a number of solutions from interim roles through to consultancy days supporting an organisation’s desire to grow, work on retention, procurement and selling services to different parts of the UK economy from large corporates to SMEs and brokers.

Clients include Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which operates a 7,500-strong fleet. Group fleet manager Paul Groundwell said: “We appointed PVS as a long-term consultant in support of our heavy re-tendering period relating to our operational vehicle and car fleet.

“One of the key drivers leading to our engagement with Marcus was his financial awareness and fiscal analysis skills. Not only has this helped reduce the overall timescale of these major procurement exercises, he has also guided SSE towards significant cost saving reductions which total in excess of £20 million over the next five years.”

Puddy’s responsibilities during a 25-year business career prior to launching PVS included managing the 6,600-strong Lloyds TSB Bank company car fleet along with its 6,000 grey fleet drivers and, latterly being commercial vehicle director at Lex Autolease, the UK’s largest contract hire and leasing company.

The Awards, organised by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, are in their 12th year and are designed to celebrate business success across the county, raise the profile of locally-based businesses and encourage growth within start-up organisations.

On winning the Award, Puddy, who launched the business with his wife, Louise, said: “PVS has gone from strength-to-strength winning contracts with organisations across the UK. We have worked with numerous businesses highlighting where cost reductions and service improvements can be made.

“PVS in its first year of trading provided services for some 15 companies, eight of which were large blue chip organisations. We have worked to enhance the commercial proposition of those companies having identified cost savings collectively totalling more than £64 million. The Award is a great accolade to receive.”

Puddy anticipates that Burnham on Sea-based PVS will recruit additional staff in 2016/17 – its second year of trading – as it continues to expand its customer base.
