The firm, which offers temporary and permanent driving jobs, said it saw big demand for its service in the run-up to Christmas, with the increasing percentage of online retail sales playing a significant role, as in previous years.

The rise in demand over Christmas saw Driver Hire’s December turnover rise to £13.1m, 14% up on the equivalent period in 2016.

Chief executive Chris Chidley said: “Our ability to deliver the right people to meet the demands of our customers, along with a highly compliant 24/7, 365 days a year service continues to set us in good stead. That is being reflected with strong trading, right across our network.”
