New video shows danger of blind spots on CVs

It highlights the shocking fact that serious accidents and fatalities are caused by blind spots on machines and vehicles. The video also shows how such incidents can be eliminated with Spillard’s real-time all-round Optronics 360 surround view camera system for industrial and commercial vehicles.

Multiple ultra-wide angle cameras are mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle to synthesise a composite bird's eye image – displayed on the operator’s screen just as if it’s been taken from above the vehicle with a single camera.

Anyone standing or walking within the programmed range of the cameras appears as a whole body rather than just the top of a head – another critical aid to optimising visibility and avoiding accidents.

Instead of the view being limited to a short fixed distance, it can be programmed from horizon to horizon as well as forward and rear.

The company’s engineers programme the high-performance ECU to suit the exact needs of each individual vehicle and its operating environment. They also install the cameras in the correct key positions and fit the screen in an optimal position in line with the mirrors.

‘Serious accidents and fatalities are all too often the result of blind spots that prevent the driver being able to see all around the vehicle and at a distance to stop in time. These blind spots can be eliminated with Spillard’s real-time all-round Optronics 360 surround view camera system for industrial and commercial vehicles,’ said Pete Spillard, MD of Spillard Safety Systems.
