2014 Silverstone Fleet Show 2014 gets off to a flying start

Returning to the home of Grand Prix racing, this year’s Show once again provides senior fleet decision-makers with the opportunity to test drive a wide range of new cars and vans, including a number of first drive opportunities, on a number of different race track scenarios. The Show also has the strongest representation of electric vehicle technology in its history with fleet decision-makers given the opportunity to evaluate models from a vast array of EVs.

Also new for 2014 is the addition of the off-road circuit where drivers will be putting a range of 4×4 vehicles through their paces with the help of professional off-road instructors.

Meanwhile the introduction of the "eco-driving hub" on Stowe Circuit, sponsored by Allstar Card Services, will help fleet managers to understand all the factors affecting the size of their fuel and tax bills, and all the ways of improving them.

And drivers will have their skills put to the test in the finals of the Fleet Driver of the Year event 2014. The competition, organised by ALD Automotive in association with Fleet World and event partners AA DriveTech and Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services, aims to find the UK’s best company car driver and promote smarter, safer driving and today now sees the finalists now face a set of highly skilled driving challenges.

This year’s event, which is backed by the three main fleet industry associations, also sees a major emphasis on fleet training and education with a series of new-look workshop-style sessions that will tackle fleet policy, risk management, driver training and environmental management.

The new workshop-style training sessions, held in the seminar theatre in the Silverstone Wing, are a radical change from the seminar programme of previous years and are aimed at anyone in fleet who wants to find out more about the basics of fleet management.

And there are also a large number of fleet service supplier firms exhibiting at the Show to exhibit on the latest industry developments and provide their expert knowledge.
