Isuzu D-Max 2.2 diesel uncovered at CV Show 2026

Isuzu UK has debuted the new D-Max 2.2 Diesel at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026, delivering a more powerful and efficient solution for fleets and drivers.

The powertrain and design enhancements mark the arrival of the 2026 model year D-Max in the UK

Uncovered alongside the D-Max EV electric pickup, the latest diesel-powered model gets a new 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine as standard, replacing the 1.9-litre version. Partnered by a new eight-speed automatic transmission as well as six-speed manual option, it delivers improved efficiency along with D-Max 2.2 delivers 3.5-tonne towing capability, a 1,205kg payload and a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system.

Alongside the powertrain enhancements, the diesel D-Max also gets design changes to mark the 2026 model year’s arrival in UK.

Priced from £33,495 (excl. VAT), the D-Max 2.2 delivers 163hp at a maximum 3,600rpm from its new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with electronically controlled fuel injection pump with intercooler and double overhead camshaft. It also gets a maximum 400Nm of torque, ensuring on-road driving and towing performance as well as offroad capabilities. WLTP combined is rated at 31.4-32.8mpg.

The shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system allows switching between high-gear two- and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62mph. A low-gear four-wheel drive mode, coupled with rear differential lock and Rough Terrain Mode, is standard across the range.

The streamlined range of cab options comprises single cab, extended cab and double cab configurations. The entry-level Utility model is available in single and extended cab, while the DL20 specification comes exclusively as a double cab. The DL40 specification can now be ordered as an extended cab and double cab, while the top-of-the-range V-Cross is offered as a double cab.

Redesigned external features for the 2026 model year D-Max include a new front radiator grille with a fully black design for the single cab utility and various colour options across other models. A new grey LED headlight accent colour features on DL40 and V-Cross, and DL20, DL40 and V-Cross specifications include updated front fog lamp bezels as standard, with new colours for the rear LED combination lamp. A new bezel houses the optional rear camera.

The DL40 and V-Cross get new-style sidesteps, and an Urban Moss metallic paint joins the eight-strong exterior colour palette. DL40 and V-Cross specifications include a new 360-degree surround-view camera that deploys digital cameras on the front radiator grille, tailgate and wing mirrors, displaying images on the infotainment screen when moving or parking.

The Utility single cab and double cab specifications include 16- and 18-inch steel wheels respectively. Other models feature new 18-inch alloy designs with variations in silver (DL20), grey metallic (DL40) and a rugged dark grey metallic (V-Cross). There’s also new Dunlop 265/60R18 low-rolling resistance tyres that incorporate a revised rubber compound delivering a 7% improvement in fuel efficiency, as well as a 7% improvement in friction on wet surfaces.

Standard features for the 2026 model year add in EU-compliant advanced driver distraction warning and emergency lane keeping systems as part of a new driver monitoring system. Located on the steering column, it uses an infra-red camera and image-processing ECU to alert drivers to safety hazards or concentration lapses.

Internal changes bring new seat designs, with enhanced cloth and leather trims. High-grade textured cloth is offered as standard on the DL20, and leather is standard on DL40 and V-Cross.

Alan Able, managing director of Isuzu UK, said: “The 2026 model is set to continue the D-Max’s success in this market, appealing to both owner-driver and fleet customers across commercial and rural environments.”

The D-Max 2.2 comes with a five-year, 125,000-mile warranty, UK and EU roadside assistance, and will be available from the official Isuzu dealer network from July 2026.
