AI-first approach shakes up fleet telematics sector

Teletrac Navman’s latest-generation telematics has launched, using artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that it says will prove game-changing for fleets.

Teletrac Navman says TN360 is a major transformational shift in what an end-to-end telematics platform can offer operators

The new TN360 platform is based on a smart AI engine with voice-command technology that’s intended to eliminate the challenges of traditional data analytics.

According to Teletrac Navman, it will significantly advance the telematics sector; previous telematics systems in the industry have managed to eliminate paper-based reporting and processes but still required a large amount of time to be spent analysing digital reports to identify opportunities for improvement.

The TN360 eliminates this by ensuring fleets can receive business intelligence metrics simply by asking a question of TN360’s smart AI engine with voice-command technology. The resultant real-time data can highlight opportunities in areas such as route planning, logistic workflows, maintenance, driver behaviour, compliance and fuel management.

This enables fleets to quickly take action, addressing areas of risk and cost.

“The digital transformation of the mobile asset and fleet management space has only just begun,” said Jens Meggers, president of Teletrac Navman. “Artificial intelligence, scalable cloud technology, real-time computer vision sensors and easy-to-use smart data analysis are completely changing the telematics market. We are at a pivotal step in the industry, digitising vertical industries unlike any time before.”

Data can be collated across all integrated systems such as engine information, driver behaviour, camera and temperature sensors, as well as via third-party systems.

The TN360 also has the ability to integrate with cameras, providing a complete picture of fleet activity and areas for improvement.

“Our goal is – and always has been – to simplify mobile asset and fleet management for our customers,” said Andrew Rossington, vice president of technology, Teletrac Navman. “We built TN360 with an AI-first approach on the latest technology stack, delivering a paradigm-shifting product. We use this technology to process the masses of data collected and turn this into real answers. The platform converts data into decisions.”

The new solution is already on sale in the UK, United States, Australia and New Zealand, where it’s expected to transform fleet operations.

Richard Lilwall, vice president and managing director at Teletrac Navman UK, added: “TN360 marks a significant and progressive step for us as a business, powering a game-changing proposition for our customers, with the ability to completely transform their fleet operations and deliver much more meaningful outcomes.”
