Airmax Remote wins sole supply telematics deal for St John Ambulance fleet

St John Ambulance has appointed Airmax Remote as exclusive provider of telematics solutions across its 550-strong blue light vehicle fleet.

St John Ambulance is using Airmax’s ‘Response’ specialist solution for emergency fleets

The charity is using Airmax’s ‘Response’ specialist solution for emergency fleets, which ensures that critical technology can be monitored remotely to provide a full 360-degree view of operations in real time.

A key feature is the ability to monitor ancillary battery life; crucial to ensuring lifesaving onboard systems are always fully operational and preventing any outages.

The rollout includes work to integrate Airmax’s telematics devices with the ‘Genisys’ switching and power management system, provided by Ring Carnation. This creates a fully connected intelligent solution, ensuring that critical onboard devices and procedures are followed, and that vehicles are performing as intended by back-office monitoring systems.

Vehicle diagnostic faults can also be remotely tracked in real-time as part of an internal monitoring tool via IoT connectivity, ensuring minimal vehicle downtime.

The Response tool also supports compliance requirements for St John’s 31,000+ volunteers. The solution identifies each driver using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, automating vehicle logbooks and providing driver intelligence.

Phil Howard, national fleet manager for St John Ambulance, said: “Our vehicles often respond to difficult incidents, in which consistent performance is essential to support our life-saving work. With the partnership and functionality delivered by Airmax Remote’ Response solution, we now have access to IoT connectivity and full insights, thanks to Airmax advancement in data accuracy compared to the general marketplace which can be monitored remotely without the need to visit a vehicle.

“In addition, remote monitoring of the vital battery-powered life-saving technology operated from our fleet of emergency vehicles ensures that we have no outages and critical equipment is maintained to a high standard.”

St John is the latest emergency service organisation to deploy solutions from Airmax; the business is working to become the national standard for the UK’s emergency services by delivering the most robust technology and information capture technology, all designed and manufactured in the UK.

Richard Perham, managing director, Airmax Remote, said: “Airmax Remote has over 20 years’ experience of working with the emergency services and the partnership with a blue-light emergency services provider with the stature of St John Ambulance is a massive endorsement of Airmax Remote’s Response solution, which is fast becoming the de-facto standard for blue-light fleets.”
