Allianz to use green parts and approved repairers to cut fleet repair costs

Allianz Commercial has updated its fleet policies to reduce repair times and cost while increasing efficiency.

Allianz says the changes will help fleets keep claims costs under control

The new wordings, effective from 1 March, mean ‘green’ parts will be used for non-safety-critical repairs where they’re available. These are effectively undamaged and reusable parts from end-of-life and written-off vehicles, which are more eco-friendly but previously had to have explicit permission for use in each repair.

The new rule will help speed up the claim process and Allianz has also committed to only using parts whose conformity has been certified, and come from the same manufacturer, with the original guarantee, and are the same age or newer than the parts they replace.

Its updated fleet policies also now provide a reduced excess for customers using the Approved Repairer Network (ARN), encouraging customers to have work done in one of the 300+ approved garages in its UK network. Repairs will be guaranteed for as long as the vehicle remains in its customer’s ownership.

Against a backdrop of double-digit claims inflation, these new terms aim at delivering swifter sustainable repairs for customers.

Head of claims customer delivery Eibhlin Swan said: “The costs of motor claims have been rocketing in the market and we want to support our customers to keep their claims costs under control. For us, the solution is to work closely with our repairers. The incentive and the warranty we provide for ARN repairs show the trust we place in our partners’ skills.”

Head of commercial motor Gerry Ross added: “Using more green parts in the repair process is the right thing to do. It’s good for our customers as it will reduce their claims costs and repair times. It’s also good for the environment as it reduces waste and carbon emissions.”

The changes apply to the Motor Fleet (15 or more vehicles) and Small Fleet (4-14 vehicles) policies from 1 March, with Complete Mini Fleet following soon afterwards.

It’s the latest change by Allianz, which enhanced its fleet propositions with electric vehicle cover as standard last year and also said it was looking to use green parts wherever possible on non-safety critical items.
