Auto Windscreens vans bring aid to vulnerable people in Kent under Markerstudy scheme

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is delivering essential food and medical supplies to around 1,000 vulnerable residents in the area with the help of Markerstudy Group.

Steve Skinner, landscaping team manager, Markerstudy Group, is one of the volunteers driving vans

The initiative makes use of 10 vans lent by Auto Windscreens, part of the group, which are being driven by volunteers from Integra, Markerstudy’s property division.

The vans are picking up parcels from a central area in Tunbridge Wells and delivering to doorsteps around the borough.

The scheme is being underpinned by strict driver protocols for handwashing and sanitising, and Markerstudy is also applying social distancing measures to ensure employee and public safety.

Councillor Carol Mackonochie, portfolio holder for communities and wellbeing at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, commented: “Volunteers and support from other organisations are at the core of our efforts to ensure that no-one is left isolated during this time. We are very grateful to Auto Windscreens and Markerstudy for having offered their vans and drivers to us to use for deliveries to vulnerable people.”
