AutoKontrol Geokontrol Speed Limiter launched to reduce vehicle speed-related accidents

The Oldham-headquartered firm has decades of commercial speed limiters experience and has developed its new Geokontrol Speed Limiter to cut vehicle speed to as low as 6mph in geo-fenced delineated areas.

The system works by pre loading the unit with Geo-Fence data which can be refined to cover any area as small as distribution centres or as large as a multi-hectare municipal refuse site, or a whole town centre.

Stuart Gray, AutoKontrol sales director, said: “Low speed limits are becoming very common in areas designated as ‘High risk’ often because vehicles are in close proximity to pedestrians and speeding vehicles are considered to be a major contributor to accidents”. Suitable locations for this equipment include distribution/transport depots, landfill sites, airports, seaports, quarries, bus/coach stations where workers and other pedestrians can come into deadly contact with vehicles. That is why many now have speed limits as low as 6mph.

“Our Geokontrol Speed Limiter is perfect for the growing spread of low-speed industrial and commercial locations. Pedestrian collisions are not inevitable because they are both predictable and preventable.

“The new AutoKontrol Geo-fenced Speed Limiter is tamper-proof, sealed and approved to DfT and EU standard."

Any diesel vehicle/wheeled plant with an electronic throttle is suitable and Autokontrol has a nationwide network of engineers able to fit the Geo-Fenced Speed Limiter at the client’s premises. The Autokontrol Geokontrol Speed Limiter is supplied with a three-year warranty. One-off retrofit prices start at just £360 with no monthly fee.
