The newly created role will see Wilson become responsible for ensuring that the company’s products are developed to offer further enhanced functionality and relevance to commercial vehicle users, from small vans to trucks operators, as well offering them expert advice and guidance.

Wilson brings a strong background in transport management, most recently as transportation and compliance manager at H.Sivver, and additionally holds the National Freight Certificate of Professional Competence from OCR.

He has also spent 14 years at the FTA in a variety of roles, including membership relations manager and tachograph and driver hours contract manager, as well as developing the small fleet Van Excellence programme. This includes the introduction of online Van Excellence audit tools and a new pre-use app for drivers; both developed by the FTA in partnership with FleetCheck.

Wilson said: “I’ve always found FleetCheck to be an innovative, forward-thinking company with a great team and a proactive attitude towards helping operators to run safe, compliant and efficient fleets. With my experience in the sector and network of contacts, I look forward to complementing an already great team and product.”

Peter Golding, managing director at FleetCheck, said: “More and more, we are seeing our customer base become weighted towards operators’ commercial vehicle fleets of all types, which is why this role has been created at this time.

“Barrie is very well-known to us and brings a skillset that will enable us to build extensively on our existing expertise. We’re very pleased to have him on board and are sure that he will prove a considerable asset to the company.”
