Barton’s Pickles replaces Isuzu truck after 18 years of service

The truck – known as ‘Pickle Eddie’ in the trade and with over 750,000 miles on the clock – has been succeeded by a replacement Isuzu Forward N75.190 7.5 tonne rigid truck supplied through local Isuzu truck dealer Warrington Vehicle Centre.

Barton’s Pickles owner Eddie Barton said: “We had owned the original Isuzu for 16 of its 18 years and, with the exception of routine servicing, nothing ever went wrong with it, its reliability was absolutely unbelievable. However it was time for us to move on and replace it.”

The replacement Isuzu 7.5-tonne distribution vehicle at Barton’s Pickles will cover approximately 30,000 miles per annum and has been specified with Isuzu’s popular Easyshift automatic transmission and a curtainsided body. However, it’s not been the end of the road for the older Isuzu.

Richard Cook, managing director at Isuzu dealer Warrington Vehicle Centre, said: “When Eddie Barton first contacted me about trading in his 18-year-old Isuzu for a replacement; we had the ideal vehicle for him in stock. The condition of the returning Isuzu was remarkable for its age and it flew through its MOT. Unbelievably, it is now subsequently with a new owner for the next stage of its long working life.”
