In the 2013 Budget the Government announced that the van benefit charge will be frozen at £3,000 in 2013-14 and will be increased only in line with the Retail Price Index from 6th April 2014. Forthcoming changes will now be announced one year ahead.
Commenting on the news, Gary Killeen, fleet services commercial leader for GE Capital UK (pictured), said: ‘The freezing of the van benefit charge for 2013-14, together with a commitment to future rises only in line with inflation, are very much to be welcomed.
‘Van taxation is essentially at the correct level and van drivers are therefore unlikely to be hit with large increases in the foreseeable future. It may also signal that there aren’t any plans for CO2-based benefit in kind taxation in the foreseeable future.’
