Director Drew Matthews said he was looking for a ‘company car’ that was well appointed, engaging and comfortable to drive, but also able to carry tools and equipment onto rough construction sites.
The Citan Sport is based on the smallest model in the Mercedes-Benz Vans line-up, but comes features including 16-inch alloy wheels, a chrome grille, sidebar and tailgate trims, daytime running lights and colour-coded bumpers and door mirrors. The interior adds in a leather steering wheel, special ‘Sport’ mats, air-conditioning and Bluetooth connectivity.
“It’s the ideal vehicle for me – practical, with a good load space, but also very comfortable, and a joy to drive,” said Matthews. “The air-conditioned cab is really well appointed and the Bluetooth system means I can communicate with staff and customers while I’m on the move.”
The Long-bodied Citan Sport 111 CDI has been delivered alongside nine Long and Extra-long Citan 109 CDIs, and a pair of 5.0-tonne Sprinter 516 CDI Longs. All are the subject of a Mercedes-Benz Financial Services funding agreement.
The ‘standard’ Citan 109s have been allocated to employees of its Recycling division, which processes ‘spoil’ excavated from utilities works for use in reinstatement, across Central Scotland. The Sprinters, meanwhile, carry a range of spares and tools, and are driven by mobile engineers from the Caledonian Plant and Recycling & Waste Machinery divisions. The group also operates Utilities Contracting and Asset Finance businesses.
