CameraMatics has bought Macclesfield-based driver and vehicle app specialist Telematicus to further develop its green fleet management capabilities.
Founded in 2009, Telematicus helps drivers manage risk, environmental impact and vehicle running costs through its Optio app while also working to reduce risk for insurers. Free to use, the app runs off IOS and Android smartphones and offers useful driving aids and vehicle management tools.
CameraMatics said the deal opens new opportunities for the business and is expected to accelerate growth further.
The combined business has more than 85 employees and services over 900 commercial fleets, expanding CameraMatics’ position in the rapidly growing market for green fleet management solutions and continues its driver-centric growth strategy.
Telematicus is the first acquisition made by the company in its pursuit of an all-in-one vehicle operations cloud that empowers drivers to better manage their emissions and insurers to give them better deals.
CameraMatics’ solutions automate safety and performance for fleets and mobile workforces. Its proprietary driver-centric cloud platform is built on camera and vision systems, AI, smart workflows, machine learning and telematics technologies. The platform supports digitisation and automation of manual paper-based processes such as driver coaching, road accident prevention and reporting, first notice of loss (FNOL), vehicle maintenance and delivery tracking.
The deal also underlines the firm’s ambitious growth strategy; the business has grown rapidly in Europe and North America and cites 170% year-on-year growth.
