Same day courier company CitySprint has outlined how it will be supporting this Sunday’s (22 September) Car Free Day in London with the help of its cargo bike fleet and other measures.
As well as its expanded push-bike and cargo bike fleet – CitySprint now has 120+ pushbike couriers and 40 cargo bikes – the firm has also recruited a walker to hand-deliver items on Sunday, which will see some 20km of roads in London closed for initiatives including Play Streets and Healthy School Streets .
CitySprint CEO Paul Gisbourne said: “Whilst Car Free Day is only one day, here at CitySprint we have long understood our responsibilities to the world around us and are committed to reducing the impact of our operation on the environment – and helping our customers do the same.
“Alongside the largest courier pushbike fleet in the UK, we have introduced newer green vehicles into our operation, including electric vans, electrically-assisted cargo bikes and even a hydrogen-powered delivery van. Ultimately, achieving a cleaner, more sustainable future can only happen with a united effort. Looking forward, we’re excited to continue exploring zero-emission technology as a way of helping our customers go green.”
