CoolKit gets exclusive distribution deal for eLCV refrigeration trailblazer

Temperature-controlled LCV specialist CoolKit has been chosen as the sole UK distributor for Austrian refrigeration pioneer, PBX.

CoolKit will market PBX’s revolutionary refrigeration units, designed specifically for temperature-controlled electric LCVs.

The tie-up was announced at TCS&D’s Cold Chain Hub 2024 where PBX’s Ecos M24 unit was included in the first-ever Ford E-Transit Custom conversion.

PBX units are said to offer unmatched benefits in efficiency, eco-friendly design and operational ease – and the collaboration with CoolKit means fleet operators across the UK have access to the lightweight and efficient refrigeration systems.

Developed with an electric-first philosophy, PBX refrigeration units align seamlessly with CoolKit’s commitment to sustainable, future-proof solutions. The units’ lightweight design and EV capabilities make the transition to electric easier for the industry.

As with CoolKit, PBX is approved by all major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and offers a forward-looking approach, especially important as the industry moves towards electric mobility.

At 39kg, PBX units are up to 50% lighter than traditional systems, providing a significant payload advantage, particularly for electric fleets. The compact, plug-and-play system is designed for easy installation, reducing set-up time to under three hours.

PBX units are designed with sustainability at their core, utilising R290, an organic refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3 – far below the GWP of 1,945, as seen in conventional synthetic refrigerants such as R452a.

The energy-efficient design of PBX systems also conserves power, requiring no additional batteries and consuming only up to 7% of an electric vehicle’s traction battery per day, making it an ideal choice for businesses with sustainability targets.

Cameron Javed, head of fleet sales at CoolKit, said: “The partnership with PBX is a game-changer for CoolKit and our customers. PBX’s innovations, including their commitment to the sustainability agenda aligns perfectly with our mission to provide the most efficient, eco-friendly solutions for temperature-controlled transport.

“From the Ecos M24 system to the cutting-edge Ecos LHV unit, PBX products bring exceptional efficiency and operational ease to the UK market, setting a new standard in sustainable refrigerated transport.”

Dennis Schneider, chief sales officer at PBX, commented: “CoolKit’s commitment to sustainability and industry-leading designs made it the perfect company to partner within the UK.

“The clear alignment between the ambitions of the two companies to drive change in refrigerated transport proved that the PBX system would be an ideal fit for CoolKit’s advancements in electric mobility.”
