Courier company saves on fleet insurance thanks to Abax–Zego partnership

Suffolk-based courier firm QRIS Services has gained from both significant fleet savings and in-depth vehicle tracking after switching insurers.

Courier firm QRIS has saved money by switching to the flexible insurance offered by Zego while also gaining from vehicle tracking through Abax

The business runs a depot in Ipswich, served by 40 self-employed drivers, and was looking for a more cost-effective insurance policy. Its search led it to insurtech unicorn Zego, which offers a range of behaviour-driven insurance solutions to help operators save money. This includes its collaboration with telematics firm Abax on data-led insurance, which has now been further expanded into Europe.

Not only has QRIS saved money by choosing the Abax–Zego offering but it’s also been able to upgrade to a full tracking system, allowing for vehicle and driver insights – with the benefit of providing additional efficiency, accountability and security.

QRIS owner Susan Mortimer said: “We were looking for new insurers last year and came across Zego, which operates a ‘pay-as-you-use’ policy. Partnered with Abax, it also offered the benefits of telematics solutions as part of package.

“We have saved money by switching, which was a no-brainer, and we also took advantage of the upgrade option which has been useful in being able to track vehicles, even if our drivers happen to be in flight mode.”

The Abax–Zego initiative enables customers to only pay for what they use, and in a way that suits their business.

Zego uses data provided by the Abax telematics tracking devices to calculate the flexible part of the premium based on how much a vehicle is used, or how many miles it’s travelled each month, or how it has been driven.

Customers can see in the dashboard exactly how much their fleet is used and save up to 80% when their fleet is off road.

The technology also offers other benefits including HMRC-compliant mileage claims; insights into driving behaviour and effective fleet management.
