Under the agreement, the company will use Ctrack Online, a web-based tracking tool, across its fleet of vans used to transport engineering teams to and from customer sites in and around the central belt area of Scotland.
Ctrack Online will replace an existing system that Dalziel Mechanical Services said was failing to meet the company’s precise needs in terms of both live tracking and historical reporting capabilities. It will be used from the company’s head office in Newmains, Lanarkshire, to provide complete visibility of remote teams to ensure they are operating responsibly and onsite as required.
In particular, Dalziel Mechanical Services will use Ctrack Online to monitor driver behaviour to help encourage improved driving styles and high levels of duty of care. This will include the tracking of harsh acceleration, braking and cornering, as well as speeding and excess idling. Meanwhile, the company will also use the system to identify any unauthorised or out-of-hours private mileage to comply with HMRC requirements and reduce unnecessary operating costs.
Jamie Delaney, managing director of Dalziel Mechanical Services, said: ‘Ctrack Online will provide an effective means of tracking our fleet, so we can see where all our vehicles are at any one time. This will not only help improve health and safety and duty of care, but also contribute to a reduction in fuel usage, streamlined administrative processes and enhanced customer service.’
