Once installed with the technology, the vehicles, which range from 7.5-tonnes up, will report real-time operational data on the location and operation of the fleet. A direct connection with the vehicle tachograph will enable driver identification via the web portal functionality, both in real-time and historically.

DFS will benefit from a full suite of reports to help reduce fuel and maintenance costs and improve the safety of the company’s transport operation.

DFS has also deployed the Microlise Safety Module which will enable speed, direction, accelerator position, braking, ABS status, gears, cruise control and clutch to be recorded, giving an overview in the seconds before and after an incident.

“We ran a successful Microlise Fleet Performance trial earlier this year and are confident we will quickly make a return on investment by delivering greater efficiency. Fundamentally this helps us to provide the very best value and service for our customers – an objective which is always front and centre in our decision-making process,” said Russell Harte, group technology director at DFS.
