DPD acquisition of CitySprint cleared by CMA

DPD’s planned acquisition of CitySprint has been approved by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

CitySprint will become part of DPD, marking the group’s expansion into same-day delivery services

The deal, announced this summer, will see CitySprint become part of DPDgroup, marking the group’s expansion into same-day delivery services.

DPD UK customers will get access to CitySprint’s same-day and specialist delivery services, while CitySprint customers will be able to use DPD UK’s domestic next-day and international services.

The CMA is yet to publish its full comments but said it had cleared the move.

A DPD spokesperson commented: “We are delighted to have received confirmation from the CMA that the planned acquisition of CitySprint has been approved. We will be working closely with the CitySprint team in the coming weeks to finalise the transaction and we are looking forward to our future together and the opportunities that will bring.”

CitySprint added: “We are pleased to have received confirmation that the planned acquisition of CitySprint by DPDgroup has now been approved by the CMA. Over the next month we will work closely with DPDgroup to finalise this transaction. We are delighted to be joining DPDgroup and excited about the new opportunities that exist for same day services across the expanded customer base.”
