The backing comes under the Electric and Intelligent Vehicles project programme and coincides with the company’s reallocation to Coventry University Technology Park – a move that it says puts it in direct contact with a range of business support and R&D facilities that will help the company maintain a pioneering position in this field.
‘Small and medium-size business are facing a big challenge with regards to driver and fleet management – increasingly they are subject to the same risks, compliance and legislative requirements as large enterprises but exposed by a lack of appropriate solutions,’ said Mark Andrews, founder and managing director of driverConnex.
Harnessing mobile and cloud-based technologies, the app negates the need for “black box” technology, which is often too restrictive for SMEs. The driverConnex app can be used on employees’ smartphones or other mobile devices and will be synchronised with a web portal to enable real-time fleet/driver management.
The solution will also have use a “freemium” pricing model – no hardware costs, free entry-level aspects to the service for personal use with upgradable premium aspects enabling organisations to “pick and mix” to meet their needs.
As well as helping to open up the solution to SMEs, providing a mobile solution also means the app can be easily updated with new releases with features and enhancements that the firm will roll out in response to user feedback.
Andrews said: ‘We will offer a smart solution to address driver needs and for a company, that has reached a tipping point where they now need a solution to address the burden of administration associated with the mobility or their workforce, driverConnex will appeal because it will be modular, flexible and cost effective. This is a very exciting proposition from driverConnex – one we are confident will get close attention.’
The app will be released in both IOS and Android platforms this spring.
