DriveTech has launched a new online driver review for LCVs to ensure all businesses have easy access to risk assessment tools.
The launch of the new solution comes as risk management specialist has urged businesses not to overlook the importance of driver risk assessments as the UK navigates its way back to ‘business as usual’.
With human error a factor in up to 95% of all road incidents according to RoSPA data, businesses have a key role to play in fulfilling their duty of care to their drivers and other road users when it comes to minimising this risk.
DriveTech’s online assessment for van drivers is part of a new suite of training modules which also covers drivers of heavy goods and passenger-carrying vehicles, as well as cars. By adopting a tailored approach, businesses will get a more accurate picture of the nature and weight of risk that any driver is likely to be exposed to, based on their vehicle type, the nature of their journeys and work demands. This in turn brings more specific results, which will enable further support and training to be better tailored to a driver’s or organisation’s needs.
And the online approach means the reviews are quick to complete, minimising employee downtime.
Leo Taylor, head of product solutions at DriveTech, commented: “As we move along the Government’s roadmap to easing lockdown, it’s vital that businesses don’t overlook driver risk assessments as society changes once again. All businesses will be impacted differently and face varying challenges, whether this is the traffic building on the roads again or passengers returning to public transport, so understanding each driver’s risk profile is important and now it’s simple, quick and cost-effective to do.”
