EDF Energy & BT Fleet sign five-year sole supplier deal

Following a rigorous tender process, the new contract will see BT Fleet manage the EDF Energy vehicle fleet until at least December 2018. Having initially started working together in October 2010, BT Fleet currently manages 1,000 LCVs and 400 cars for the energy company.

As part of the agreement, BT Fleet is providing EDF Energy with a comprehensive portfolio of services including fleet and accident management, fuel provision and cards, and service, maintenance and repair.

Having one of the largest nationwide garage and repair networks in the UK, with 65 owned garages, was a principal factor in EDF Energy deciding to appoint BT Fleet. This ensures that company vehicles, including those used for servicing critical infrastructure, can be repaired locally, quickly and cost effectively, ensuring minimal vehicle downtime.

Kevin Boxall, fleet manager, EDF Energy, said: ‘Over the past three and a half years, BT Fleet has consistently demonstrated an enthusiastic, ‘can-do’ approach to managing our fleet of vehicles. As a company, we have very strict health and safety requirements, which extend to our fleet of vehicles, so having BT Fleet as a partner ensures that these robust standards are adhered to.’

Dave Bowen, managing director of BT Fleet, said: ‘The extension of the agreement between BT Fleet and EDF Energy is a further endorsement of the work that we undertake on a daily basis for businesses like EDF Energy who operate specialist, business-critical fleets of vehicles.’
