Opening for orders in October, priced from £42,695 excl VAT, the E-Transit is focused on providing class-leading combination of capability, low cost of ownership and productivity-boosting connected services.

Already on trial with fleet customers ahead of its arrival in early 2022, the E-Transit comes with a choice of a 184hp or 270hp motor, offering 430Nm of torque and powered by a 68kWh usable battery capacity as standard. Targeted WLTP driving range is up to 196 miles and the E-Transit can charge from 15 to 80% in 34 minutes from a 115kW DC fast charger. An overnight full charge from a standard 230V AC supply takes just over eight hours.

The line-up will include 25 variants, encompassing van, double-cab-in-van and chassis cab body styles with multiple lengths and roof heights and GVMs from 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes. Payload is up to 1,758kg on the van model.

As well as bringing major fuel cost savings, the E-Transit is estimated to bring service maintenance and repair cost of ownership that’s 40% lower than equivalent diesel-powered models; according to Ford data, E‑Transit has the lowest costs in these areas in both the UK and Germany versus direct competitors.

And to maximise productivity, fleets can opt for exportable power via the ProPower Onboard feature, which delivers up to 2.3kW from standard plug sockets in the cab and load area, to power tools, lights, laptops and conversions such as refrigeration units.

“E-Transit is going to be a quantum leap for commercial vehicle operators. New connected services and advanced technologies will streamline customers’ businesses and supercharge their productivity as they make the move to fully-electric fleets,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe. “With pricing designed to remove any barrier to entry, E‑Transit is a truly compelling proposition for European businesses.”

It’ll be backed by a dedicated new Ford Pro charging team to support businesses with depot, home and public charging solutions, including hardware, installation and smart management tools.

Fleets can also manage the payment of public charging using the Ford charging network via Ford Telematics while drivers can also easily locate, access and bill for charging while on the road using the Ford Charge Assist app that’s part of the SYNC 4 system and accessible via the 12‑inch touchscreen.

Fleets will also be able to access to the Electriphi platform for charging management and fleet monitoring software thanks to Ford’s acquisition of the firm earlier this year.

Two trim levels will be offered – Base and Trend – both of which exceed equipment levels in the equivalent diesel model. Entry-level features include electronic air temperature control, the SYNC 4 system with 12-inch touchscreen display, keyless Start, heated seats, quickclear windscreen and heated power mirrors, plus always-on connectivity with a FordPass Connect modem, a lifetime subscription to FordPass Pro or Ford Telematics Essentials, access to FordPass charging network for a year, and a one-year subscription to Ford Telematics for fleet customers.

The Trend series adds in the Ford Connected Navigation system, cruise control, pre‑collision assist with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping aid, and front and rear parking distance sensors.

The E-Transit will come with a one‑year, unlimited mileage service interval and eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for all high-voltage electric components, as well as a one-year electric vehicle roadside assistance package including rescue charging.
