Van Guard Accessories has appointed former commercial finance director Emlyn Harris as its new managing director.

He takes over from Barry Woodward, who has been at the helm of Van Guard since 2008 and will remain with the company as chairman.

Woodward has led the company through many successful milestones over his years as MD; from the turbulent recession times, site expansion, to the launch of the UltiLock range in 2021.

He commented: “To become chairman of Van Guard is a privilege and an honour. In these interesting times – and in my 40+ years at Van Guard, I have certainly seen a few – it is more important than ever to make senior role decisions based on commitment, confidence, and certainty for the longevity of Van Guard.”

Woodward continued: “I am pleased to be able to appoint someone as capable and committed as Emlyn Harris as my successor as managing director. These changes will cement the long-term future of Van Guard and I could not be prouder of the senior management team we have in place to help the company reach our future goals.”

Harris’s appointment has been announced as the company readies for this year’s CV Show, where it will showcase its security products and van accessories while Harris will also be on hand to meet customers, suppliers and partners in his new role.

He commented: “It is a huge honour to be appointed managing director for Van Guard Accessories and to build on Barry’s success and lead the team into an exciting new chapter of the business. As we look to the future, I am excited to be able to capitalise on our manufacturing capabilities, to deliver market leading vehicle accessories and security solutions as part of my role.”

Harris finished: “I would like to extend my gratitude to Barry for his remarkable leadership and look forward to working with him as he takes on his new role as chairman.”
