Mulligan previously served a technician’s apprenticeship at the dealer’s Newport branch in the early 1990s and returns 20 years after he left.
“I have always appreciated the fantastic start that Euro gave me,” he said. “Without that, I would not be where I am today.”
After leaving the dealer he worked for various companies before joining vehicle rental specialist Gulliver’s Truck Hire. He remained with Bristol-based Gulliver’s for 11 years, serving most recently as its national engineering & operations manager.
In his new role, he is responsible for the operation of Euro Commercials’ truck and van workshops in Cardiff and Swansea, as well as the Newport facility in which he began his career.
Mulligan, who lives in Cwmbran, said: “I have always remained in contact with Euro Commercials and it became clear during conversations with managing director Jeff Carne that there was an opportunity to ‘come home’ to South Wales. I jumped at it.
“This represents a fantastic chance for me to make a real difference to a highly respected local business, doing the job I know and love. Most importantly, my background means I bring a customer’s perspective to the role, so can ensure that we’re delivering the timely, focused vehicle repair and maintenance support that operators need.”
He added: “I’ve inherited a great Service team and some first class facilities, but we also have exciting plans for new investments and developments over the course of the year, so watch this space!”
