Routing and scheduling software accommodates EV ranges

Paragon has updated its routing and scheduling software to incorporate electric vehicle ranges to help with transport planning.

Paragon’s routing and scheduling software can now accommodate EV ranges.

The update means that the software restricts any trip distance to meet the vehicle’s maximum range. Alerts will also be issued on any subsequent manual adjustments that result in extra mileage beyond the vehicle’s range.

The new functionality is intended to help fleets adopting electric and hybrid vans and trucks – recent Paragon research found that almost 20% of commercial vehicle fleets already have a fleet strategy for electric or hybrid vehicles, with a further 26% expecting to adopt such vehicles in the next two years.

Phil Ingham, support director of Paragon Software Systems, said: “We initially developed this functionality to meet specific customer demand, but we believe it will become increasingly relevant for many types of logistics operations as they introduce greener vehicles over the coming years.”
