Falck boosts patient transport service with MAN TGE-based ambulances

Non-emergency ambulance provider Falck has deployed a new fleet of converted MAN TGEs to enhance its patient transport service function.

Falck’s new patient transport service vehicles were supplied by MAN Truck & Bus UK’s Direct Fleet Sales Van operation

The 92 vehicles will be based at the company’s new Wembley operating base and have been converted from 3.140 medium wheelbase high roof models. Additions include an easy-to-wipe moulded interior lining and a new composite non-slip flooring, along with additional heating and air conditioning, tinted windows, modesty screens and a flexible seating layout that enables a patient’s family members, or a carer, to accompany them during their trip.

Rear access ramps and additional side-loading door steps are fitted to all vehicles and Cartwright Conversions has also fitted NMI recessed floor tracking throughout the vehicles to ensure that stretchers, wheelchairs and additional seating can be both adapted and neatly folded away.

Supplied by MAN Truck & Bus UK’s Direct Fleet Sales Van operation, the vehicles are powered by the 140hp 2.0-litre turbo diesel, married up with rear-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission. They come with a three-year, unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty while vehicle maintenance is catered for by the dedicated MAN Commercial Vehicle dealer network, which offers extended opening hours and round-the-clock servicing.

Simon Thwaites, head of fleet Falck UK, said: “Our aim is to expand on our people-helping-people philosophy and to become a leading provider of independent ambulance and Patient Transport Service (PTS) vehicles in the UK.

“These new cutting-edge MAN TGE based ambulances, all equipped and built using the latest patient transport healthcare practices, will help us deliver not only a greater level of operational excellence, but a more efficient and modern level of service throughout the cycle of patient care.”
