For the Ducato, the Euro 6 diesel engine range is based on two technologies: Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LPEGR) and Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) for the passenger carrier versions.
LPEGR avoids the need for NOx-reducing additives by channelling exhaust gasses away after the DPF, cooling them in a low-pressure EGR cooler and recirculating them ahead of the turbo charger.
A new entry-level 2.0-litre 115hp MultiJet II LPEGR unit replaces the current Euro 5 2.3-litre MultiJet 110hp, with Fiat saying it offers improved performance and refinement as well as increased efficiency and lower running costs despite being a smaller unit.
At the top end of the range, the 3.0-litre 180hp has been replaced by a new 180hp 2.3-litre MultiJet II Power LPEGR, bringing 46.3mpg on the official combined cycle and 160g/km. The core 2.3-litre MultiJet 130hp and 150hp engines have also been updated with Fiat’s LPEGR technology.
Meanwhile the Fiat Doblò range gains two second-generation turbo diesel engines: a 95hp 1.3-litre MultiJet II 95hp and a 105hp 1.6-litre MultiJet II, both of which are available in new EcoJet versions, offering official fuel economy of up to 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 120g/km.
A new range-topping 1.6-litre MultiJet II 120hp is now offered instead of the current 2.0-litre engine and brings similar performance but with a figure of 55.4mpg for official combined cycle fuel economy and CO2 emissions of 135g/km.
The Fiat Ducato Euro 6 is available to order now priced from £21,445 while the Doblò EU6 is priced from £13,545. Prices exclude VAT and OTR charges.
