Fiat Professional is to replace the current Renault Trafic-based Talento model range within the next few months, reviving the former Scudo name.
As expected, the replacement line-up will be based on the Stellantis medium van architecture shared with the Peugeot Expert, Citroën Dispatch, Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro and Toyota Proace, which has seemed inevitable since the formation of the Stellantis Group from FCA and the PSA Group last year.
The new van range will resurrect the Scudo name, used for the van model built in a joint venture with the then-PSA Group between 1996 and 2012. Like that model, the new Scudo will be built at the Stellantis plant at Hordain, near Valenciennes in northern France.
Fiat Professional has said that there will be both internal combustion engine and electrically powered versions of the Scudo, which will be available as a van, combo and platform cab. In addition, Fiat will launch a passenger variant, reviving another old name, Ulysse, used for the earlier passenger version of the Scudo.
More details will be released before the model is available to order at the end of this year.
