Fire and rescue service to increase efficiency with Civica cloud solution

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is using new smart cloud technology from Civica to bring maintenance and tracking of all its assets under a single platform.

Civica’s smart TranSend software will bring fleet maintenance, testing and compliance into one digital platform for the first time

The fire service is the UK’s third largest and runs around 330 vehicles and some 12,000 equipment assets across six Welsh counties. These were previously spread across two separate systems – bringing a major asset and inventory management challenge – and the service sought a new digital solution to tie everything up in a single database.

It’s chosen Civica’s TranSend software to provide a single integrated platform, reducing the risk of data duplication and error, and enabling employees to focus more on business improvement.

A single view of all assets in one central database will support improved financial planning across the service, offering better visibility of whole-life costs. It will also help ensure emergency vehicles and equipment are in the right place at the right time, enhancing community safety.

The platform also provides much-improved access to all data in the cloud, available on laptop and mobile devices – while helping to manage suppliers more efficiently via a new Supplier Portal, supporting the paperless agenda.

Stephen Davies, head of fleet, engineering and logistics at Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The fire and rescue service is unique in having so many smaller, risk-critical assets which require varying degrees of tracking and maintenance, especially after large-scale incidents.

“Working with Civica as a trusted partner, this platform will meet all of our fleet and asset needs. TranSend will mean we have the right appliances and equipment in the right place at the right time, ensuring a better, safer service for the communities we serve right across mid and west Wales.”
