Flakt Group overhauls car and van fleet with help of Ogilvie True Cost

Flakt Group has revamped its entire company car and van policy and introduced its first electric vehicles with the help of Ogilvie Fleet.

Ogilvie Fleet’s solution is expected to make high six-figure savings over the life of the new vehicles

Ogilvie is providing a total fleet management solution for the air quality and ventilation solutions provider that’s expected to make high six-figure savings over the life of the new vehicles. It’s already delivered the first batch of cars alongside a bespoke fitout of new vans for Flakt’s engineers.

Ogilvie carried out a ‘deep dive’ into Flakt’s current policy, which was based on monthly rentals, to see where changes could be made to make savings and improve the fleet’s efficiency.

It’s now rewritten the entire policy from scratch, based on the Ogilvie True Cost tool. This factors in total costs of ownership over the life of the vehicle.

The switch to Ogilvie True Cost model from the previous supplier’s rental-only solution has led to changes in driver grades but also allowed the introduction of plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles for company car drivers.

This has not only resulted in significant Benefit-In-Kind tax savings but also major reductions in fuel costs and employers NICs.

Ogilvie has also overhauled the van fleet – its partnership with van racking solution provider System Edstrom introduces a bespoke racking system to help Flakt’s engineers across the country. This gives Flakt van drivers a functional, smart and safe mobile workshop.

The company vans have been fitted with Webfleet technology supplied by Vtec Solutions which will improve efficiency with job scheduling, fuel management, driver safety and accident reduction.

Ogilvie will also be providing fleet solutions for Flakt Group’s sister business Flakt Woods including the electric vehicle scheme MiSalarySacrifice.

John O’Leary, purchasing manager of Hereford-based Flakt Group, said: “We were impressed with Ogilvie’s approach to driver support from the start, with driver comms, online ordering and a bespoke driver portal set up to help our drivers select their next car and navigate the world of electric vehicles – for the first time for many of them. The Happy Drivers App is extremely impressive and has everything our drivers need whilst out on the road.”

He added: “Jo and her team presented to our board, and it was clear that Ogilvie’s proposition could help us save time and money with the introduction of new vehicles, policies and supporting services all in one place. We appreciate the importance Ogilvie put on their people and always having someone on the end of the phone.”
