Fleets invited to enter EuroTra Safety Award 2013

The award is sponsored by Volvo Truck Corporation of Sweden and is designed to recognise excellence through practices, techniques or procedures that directly relate to improving safety in the European road freight industry.

The entries will be judged by a panel including a representative from CIECA (The International Commission for Driver Testing), a representative from Volvo Truck Corporation and James Tillyer from the Freight Transport Association's consultancy team, who is also President of EuroTra.

The winner will be presented with a cheque for €5,000 at EuroTra's Winter General Assembly, to be held in Prague in November.

James Tillyer, President of EuroTra, said: ‘The EuroTra Safety Award has been designed to recognise the great efforts made across Europe to reduce the risk of accidents in transport and logistics, while at the same time showcasing the techniques, practices and devices that can demonstrate higher levels of safety on Europe's roads.

‘Our sponsor, Volvo Truck Corporation, has once again shown tremendous support for the award, and with a €5000 prize on offer we hope to attract more applicants than ever before.’

The award will be managed by Benedikt Schimmelpfennig of DEKRA GmbH, a leading global provider of auditing and certification services specialising in the fields of safety, environment and health.

Further information, including an application form, is available by emailing Mr Schimmelpfennig at [email protected]. The closing date for entries is 27 September 2013.
