Ford E-Transit electric van prices and specifications revealed

Ford E-Transit has announced details for its new E-Transit electric van, which is priced from £47,700 excluding VAT in the UK.

The all-electric version of the world’s best-selling cargo van will bring class-leading battery size, range and motor power, according to the brand

Already in production and in use with customer partners, the all-electric version of the world’s best-selling cargo van will bring class-leading battery size, range and motor power, according to the brand, along with its ProPower Onboard exportable power feature.

It will also deliver an enhanced level of standard equipment, as well as end-to-end charging support and a range of telematics solutions – all launched under the new Ford Pro banner, which brings an integrated offering of vehicles, software and connected services to help improve productivity and uptime and lower costs.

Its electric powertrain teams up a motor with 430Nm of torque and either 184hp or 270hp outputs with a 68kWh usable battery capacity as standard, providing a range of up to 197 miles WLTP.

Payload is up to 1,758kg  on the van model, and the range covers 25 variants of van, double-cab-in-van and chassis cab body styles with multiple lengths and roof heights, as well as GVMs from 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes.

Two grades are offered – Leader and Trend – both of which offer significantly higher specifications than the equivalent diesel model.

The Base series includes Electronic Air Temperature Control, Keyless Start, heated seats, Quickclear windscreen and heated power mirrors.

The E-Transit also introduces Ford’s latest Sync 4 communications and information system to the brand’s commercial vehicle range in Europe, offering twice the computing power of Sync 3 and controlled via an intuitive 12-inch wipe-clean, glare-resistant touchscreen.

Moving up to the Trend grade adds the Ford Connected Navigation System, which includes data on charging, traffic, live parking availability, as well as Intelligent Range. Enhanced voice control and embedded Amazon Alexa are also available.

All E-Transits come with a standard FordPass Connect modem, enabling permanent connectivity with the Ford Pro ecosystem and Ford Power-Up software updates to deliver additional features and benefits.

They also feature Ford’s ProPower Onboard feature, delivering up to 2.3kW in the cab and load area to power conversions and equipment while out at work.

Customers also get a lifetime subscription to FordPass Pro or Ford Pro Telematics Essentials and access to the Blue Oval Charging Network for a year. Fleet customers also receive a year of complimentary access to Ford Pro E‑Telematics.

Driver assistance features – which have helped the E-Transit gain a Gold Award from Euro NCAP – include Pre‑Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Information System with Lane Change Warning & Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keeping Aid and Junction Assist.

The E-Transit also debuts new driver assistance systems including Reverse Brake Assist and a new 360-degree camera, displayed via the 12‑inch dashboard screen.

Ford also pledges an outstanding cost of ownership for the E-Transit that will see it pay back or generate a positive business case over the ownership period. In addition to significant fuel cost savings, Ford Pro estimates that service maintenance and repair cost of ownership will be 40% lower than equivalent diesel-powered models. Ford Pro data indicates that E‑Transit has the lowest SMR costs in both the UK and Germany versus direct competitors.

The E-Transit includes a one‑year, unlimited mileage service interval and eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for all high-voltage electric components, as well as a one-year electric vehicle roadside assistance package including rescue charging.

“E-Transit is a quantum leap for commercial vehicle operators. Its all-electric powertrain, uncompromised capability and integrated supporting Ford Pro ecosystem will streamline customers’ businesses and supercharge their productivity as they switch to fully-electric fleets,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “With pricing designed to remove any barrier to entry, E‑Transit is a truly compelling proposition for European businesses.”

Following the launch of E-Transit, Ford is expanding its Transit family with a further four new electric models – the all‑new Transit Custom one-tonne van and Tourneo Custom multi-purpose vehicle in 2023, and the smaller, next-generation Transit Courier van and Tourneo Courier multi-purpose vehicle in 2024.
