Ford Ranger gets rugged Wildtrak X and Tremor models

Ford has expanded the line-up for the Ranger pickup with off-road focused Wildtrak X and Tremor models.

Ford Ranger Tremor

The rugged new arrivals are beefed up with bespoke long-travel suspension, advanced off-road driver assistance systems and standout styling, along with a new Flexible Rack system.

Wildtrak X is based on the Wildtrak model, but with a 26mm ride height increase and 30mm wider track width. Suspension upgrades deliver standard Bilstein high-performance position‑sensitive dampers, designed to enhance off-road ability without compromising on-road performance. The heavy-duty power steering system is uprated from the standard model and the Wildtrak X gets a protective steel bash plate.

It’s powered by a 205hp 2.0-litre EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and putting out 500Nm of torque from 1,750rpm. The Wildtrak X also debuts an advanced new full-time four-wheel drive system with a ‘set-and-forget mode’ as standard.

Off-road tech as standard includes Trail Turn Assist, which can reduce the turning radius by up to 25% via brake-based torque vectoring. Trail Control works like cruise control to support the driver at speeds below 20mph while navigating difficult terrain.

Bold styling features include an Asphalt Black grille surround and bumper H-bar, wheel arch trim and rear bumper. Wildtrak X badges predominate, along with blacked-out Ford ovals and matching black 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain white-lettered tyres. Matrix LED headlamps with auxiliary lamps in the grille are optional.

The interior gains suede-trimmed seats with exclusive Wildtrak X embroidery, plus suede panels with contrasting stitching on the upper dashboard, door trims and centre console.

Drivers also get built-in connectivity as standard to FordPass and Ford Pro services such as FordLiive.

It’s joined by the new Ranger Tremor, based on the Ranger XLT and carrying over the powertrain and new all-wheel drive system from the Wildtrak X plus the chassis and technology upgrades.

The suspension has been adapted and accommodates the increased track and extended arch mouldings. The Tremor also features a long-leg tubular sports bar as standard, along with cast aluminium side steps and exposed twin front tow hooks. Styling is completed with Boulder Grey exterior details and a darker grille, while the interior gets a water-resistant vinyl trim.

The Tremor can also be specified with a pre-wired overhead switch pack that gives six inputs for winches, LED light bars and other equipment.

Both the new models can be specified with the new Flexible Rack System, which uses a folding roof rack and adjustable sliding rear load hoop to make it easier to carry ladders, planks or kayaks, freeing load bed space for cargo.

The new arrivals join the existing variants on sale since late 2022 and deliver the widest-ever model choice for the pickup.

Orders for the Ranger WildTrax X and Tremor are open now and initial deliveries across Europe are expected from August 2023.
