Ford reveals E-Tourneo Custom electric MPV with 202-mile range

Ford Pro has revealed its all-electric E-Tourneo Custom MPV, aimed at personal-use and business customers.

Unveiled alongside the new E-Transit Custom that it’s based on, the passenger-carrying version joins the existing Tourneo Custom PHEV and EcoBlue diesel-powered models and comes with up to eight seats, compared to nine for the other variants.

The all-electric powertrain comes in just one version, teaming up a 218hp (160kW) electric motor with a 74kWh (64kWh useable) battery to deliver a driving range of up to 202 miles (325km) and one-pedal drive capability.

An onboard 11kW AC three-phase charger is capable of fully recharging the battery in less than eight hours,  and a 10-80% recharge takes around 39 minutes using a 125kW DC fast charger. The E‑Tourneo Custom’s charge profile front-loads the energy to enable quick top-ups; in lab testing, a 125kW DC fast charger added 50 miles (82km) of range in some 10 minutes.

Pro Power Onboard technology, also available with the PHEV versions, enables customers to draw up to 2.3kW through sockets in the cabin – ideal for powering digital devices, tools or sports and camping equipment when off-grid.

The E-Tourneo Custom also offers a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg, while the all-new architecture delivers a lower floor height and a new integrated side step, supported by class-leading apertures for the sliding side door and rear tailgate. An all-new independent rear suspension system is standard across the range, engineered for enhanced ride comfort, handling and refinement.

It joins the Tourneo Custom line-up, which also includes a plug-in hybrid – with up to 34 miles of all-electric range – and all-wheel drive diesel options with eight-speed automatic transmission.

The trim line-up includes Active, Sport and range-topping Titanium X models, available with any powertrain. The latter comes with 19-inch alloy wheels and full matrix LED lighting.

Equipment includes a 13-inch touchscreen with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system and Connected Navigation, which can show charger locations and information on weather, traffic, parking and upcoming hazards. A new digital instrument cluster appears as part of a driver-focused cockpit, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility as standard.

Available features include tri-zone electronic air temperature control, a 14-speaker B&O sound system featuring a subwoofer located in the rear compartment, sophisticated ambient lighting, wireless charging pad for mobile devices, and heated outboard seats in the second row.

The E-Tourneo Custom also offers the same tilting steering wheel as in the E‑Transit Custom, which can be used as an ergonomic device holder for laptops and tablets, or folded flat to become a convenient table.

The E-Tourneo Custom also comes with a flexible new track-mounted seating system in the second and third rows, which enables customers to independently slide the seats forward or back along notched tracks set into the rear cabin floor, or to lift seats out completely as required.

Latest advanced driver assistance systems include debuts such as intelligent adaptive cruise control with lane centring, reverse brake assist, fully active park assist and a 360-degree camera system.

Customers can also benefit from Ford Pro’s new home charging solution, which includes consultation and training, home charger installation and maintenance, as well as software to make planning and paying for charging easy.

Businesses with multiple drivers charging at home can easily track energy use across their fleet with a single dashboard in Ford Pro Telematics and can view reimbursement due for each driver using a set rate per kWh. The system’s EV-specific features also include central control of remote pre‑conditioning to warm or cool the battery and cabin while on charge to optimise driving range, as well as displaying alerts if a vehicle is not charging when it should be.

Owners of any Tourneo Custom model, private and commercial, can also take advantage of the FORDLiive connected uptime system, designed to use real-time vehicle health data to help prevent breakdowns and shorten repair times via proactive health alerts, expedited parts delivery and digital support from dedicated agents as well as Ford’s vehicle engineering teams.

All Tourneo Custom owners can benefit from a 12-month complimentary subscription to Connected Navigation and Ford Pro Telematics. Ford Pro is also offering 12 months of complimentary access to public charging for all E-Tourneo Custom owners.
