Free webinar to help fleets start managing work-related driver risk

IAM RoadSmart is running a free webinar to help fleets tackle challenges with implementing work-related driver risk management.

The webinar will give useful tips to help fleets start managing driver risk in a way that fits their business

takes place at 2pm on Wednesday 31 July and will give useful tips to help fleets start managing driver risk in a way that fits their business.

Driving is the single most hazardous activity that most UK workers will undertake in the course of their work, accounting for more work-related fatalities each year than all other causes combined.

Despite this, many employers do not implement risk management processes for driving like they do for workplace hazards, often due to a lack of clear policies or ownership, poor understanding of the legal implications, or a misunderstanding of what’s involved.

IAM’s free webinar will look at how to tackle work-related driver risk management, including exploring what classes as driving work; reasons to focus on driver safety; what to think about when creating a road safety policy; and giving handy tools and resources for safer business motoring.

The webinar will be hosted by work-related road safety specialist Rebecca Ashton, alongside IAM RoadSmart’s training course development team

Ashton said: “With the higher levels of road risk faced by people who drive for work, helping employers to tackle driver risk is one of the most important things IAM RoadSmart can do to support safety on our roads.

“Many businesses know they have a responsibility to manage driver risk but aren’t sure where to start. It doesn’t have to be difficult, and there are benefits not just for employee safety but also for the general public, and fringe benefits for companies. Everyone has a part they can play, and I look forward to sharing some insights that can help get you started on making some practical steps.”
