FridgeXpress, which was acquired by Northgate in July 2023, has widened its short- and long-term vehicle rental proposition with the launch of new micromobility vehicles capable of carrying chilled or refrigerated goods.
The first micromobility EVs available are the Goupil G4 and the Alke ATX, which aim to meet the growing demand from its food and pharmaceutical customers to deliver perishable goods in busy urban and confined operating areas. This includes retail parks, shopping centres, holiday parks and festivals.
The new vehicles form part of the Northgate group-wide Drive to Zero initiative which reduces the emissions of its hire fleet and that of its customers.
Currently, 10% of the FridgeXpress short- and long-term hire fleet is electric; a number that will continue to rise as its team collaborates with customers on transitioning their vehicles away from diesel.
As with the rest of the FridgeXpress LCV hire fleet, the new EVs come complete with servicing, maintenance and breakdown provision as part of a single monthly rental payment.
Adam Naylor, managing director of FridgeXpress, said: “We have been working on bringing these agile solutions to our customers to help them meet their net-zero targets. We are inviting fleets to trial these innovative new vehicles in real world operating conditions.
“These vehicles are homologated for N1 road use and are available with a variety of battery capacity options which means we can further tailor them to our customers’ needs, both in the service they provide, and their commitments to the environment.”
