In a letter to the Rt Hon Theresa May MP, Wells said the UK economy relies on the ability to import and export goods and it is, “essential therefore that the UK Government secures arrangements which protect our ability to deliver this”.
Wells asked to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss how FTA can work with and support the Government to deliver the best result for UK business. He also sent her a copy of FTA’s 2016 Logistics Report – an annual document which provides an overview of the challenges facing the sector.
FTA stated that Brexit is a key issue for its 15,000+ members who transport goods by road, rail, sea and air. Access to the Single Market and the ability to hire non-UK drivers are prioritised at the top of their list of concerns.
