The conferences offer transport managers the opportunity to listen to and meet with key industry speakers and experts such as their local Traffic Commissioner to discuss the latest issues affecting their operation, and preparing them for the year ahead.
The first of the FTA conferences was held on 9 September this year at Brands Hatch in Kent and included a key session on the driver shortage issue and how to maintain a skilled workforce, including where to go for new staff, how to engage with the staff you have and what training and development opportunities are there for the future.
David Wells, FTA chief executive, said: “The FTA Transport Manager conferences have grown in popularity due to the importance of the issues covered and quality of speakers included within the programme. We are delighted at the number of delegates who have registered to attend this year’s series which is a clear indication of how important the attendees view their role as transport managers.”
Other sessions at FTA Transport Manager 2015 – sponsored by Microlise and Volvo Trucks include:
• Managing the road network and congestion
• Summary of air quality and environmental measures
• Next generation enforcement – linked in with earned recognition
• Euro VI – have our concerns and fears been confirmed?
