The FTA is in direct communication with the Highways Agency's National Traffic Control Centre and the Met Office receiving up-to-date weather forecasts for the UK road network. The first Traffic Update email of each day gives a weather report for that day, overnight and the following day.
The association added that it works closely with the National Highway Authorities and the Met Office to act as a communication line on vital weather information and provides a traffic service which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure that vital amber and red winter weather alerts are delivered to members as they are issued.
