FTA to spotlight professional driver shortage at Transport Hub

With FTA members regularly voicing their increased concerns over the problem of driver shortage, the subject will be discussed in detail as part of FTA’s fringe event at the party conference on Tuesday 30 September.

As part of the event entitled ‘Transforming transport – securing and supporting the next generation of employees’, the challenges facing the freight industry without enough professional drivers in the UK will be outlined, and possible ways of solving the problem will be discussed.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Transport Hub sees FTA join forces with an eclectic coalition of eight other transport organisations from across the breadth of transport opinion to host the Transport Hub events at the 2014 party conferences.

‘Throughout the 2014 party conferences the Transport Hub will once again be putting transport in the political spotlight, attracting leading political and industry figures as well as conference delegates and others to discuss the issues affecting the movement of people and goods,' explained Karen Dee, FTA's director director of policy.

'FTA is proud of the leading role it has played in the organisation of the Transport Hub, and looks forward to another highly successful party conference season.'

The Transport Hub will take place at:

Conservative Party Conference – 28 September-1 October, Birmingham

Liberal Democrat Conference – 4-8 October, Glasgow
