GPS tracker locates stolen van 150 miles away

A van stolen from Norfolk-based rental company Barford Van Hire and Sales has been recovered 150 miles away with the help of a GPS tracker.

The van was located 150 miles away from where it was stolen

The firm installed the technology after hearing reports of a rise in thefts of local stolen vehicles and subsequently had one of its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Lutons stolen during the night in Norwich. Thanks to the ABAX tracker installed, they were able to quickly recover the vehicle 150 miles away in Kent.

Robbie Dunderdale, rental assistant, said: “We were able to track the vehicle in real time and relay the position to the police control room over the phone, which was absolutely brilliant. Everything on the ABAX Triplog interface is clearly displayed and easy to use when operating the system in a pressured situation.”

Dunderdale added: “My favourite feature of the Triplog has to be the ability to print off a detailed report of a chosen vehicle’s movements. This includes accurate dates, time and positions, allowing us to help the police with the further investigation once the vehicle was recovered. We would definitely recommend ABAX to other businesses!”
