Lee Prentice, transport manager at Greggs, has been named the winner of Logistics UK’s first-ever national Transport Manager of the Year competition.

Prentice fended off tough competition and was crowned winner at the business group’s Transport Manager event in Coventry following the final round of judging.
Iain Fortune, fleet/logistics manager at Bristol Waste, was awarded second place followed by three shortlisted finalists Anthony Rosier, James North and Thijs Bontekoe.
David Wells, chief executive at Logistics UK, said: “The judges were extremely impressed with the excellence Mr Prentice demonstrated across all facets of the role – his ability to problem solve and find solutions to issues took the biscuit! This competition truly represents the best of the best and I would also like to extend my congratulations to our second-place winner, Iain Fortune – as well as all those that were shortlisted – as it was a very close-run battle for the title.”
Commenting on his award win, Prentice said: “It’s a challenging but rewarding competition and the other finalists pushed me all the way with their determination. I look forward to pushing the boundaries and creating more opportunities next year – being a transport manager is constantly challenging but it’s a role I love. I guess you could say that this role is the cherry on the top of the role!”
