Fleet operators are increasingly turning to personal safety solutions to safeguard vulnerable staff who are working remotely.
Peoplesafe, which provides a range of handheld devices, fobs and apps for drivers, says it’s seeing demand from fleets within a range of industry sectors as they explore new ways to ensure staff welfare and meet duty of care commitments.
“We are hearing from companies in a range of fleet-related sectors – such as FM, security, utilities, telecoms, engineering, property and logistics – who are increasingly concerned about the threats posed to staff working alone,” said CEO Naz Dossa. “Our range of personal safety solutions are designed to offer added lone worker protection when a driver is away from the vehicle and at greatest risk, providing peace of mind and supporting duty of care.”
The solutions can be used to raise an alarm by drivers in situations where they’re at risk, including of being physically attacked, being struck at the roadside or having an at-work accident. This includes by using their smartphone or tablet, which can be turned into an effective personal safety device with the app and can also be used in conjunction with a wearable Bluetooth button.
Alerts are sent to Peoplesafe’s 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), which quickly determines the level of threat and provides the fastest possible response to the incident. A driver can also log locations and activities, with monitored check-up messages if required, while the additional fall detection functionality recognises if a driver needs assistance having fallen over or been knocked down.
