Hilton Main Construction builds new fleet with Isuzu Grafters

Hilton Main Construction is deploying its first vehicles from Isuzu Truck UK following a search for improved reliability and better aftersales support.

The West Midlands-based business has taken delivery of 14 new Isuzu N35.125 Grafters to replace older vehicles in its 90-strong mixed commercial fleet, and is looking to switch all its 3.5-tonners to Isuzu.

Supplied by local dealer Aquila Truck Centres, the new Grafters feature a Brit-Tipp tipper body with steel underfloor for the transport of building materials, together with an ultra-secure tool pod designed to safely store equipment.

Alan Degg, managing director for Hilton Main Construction, said: “We had been slightly disappointed with both the performance and level of service we were getting from our previous vehicles, so we decided it was time to look for something different.

“The team at Aquila demonstrated how the Grafter could provide us with exactly what we were looking for – and they were right. We’ve been immediately impressed by the level of communication and support we’ve received, and the vehicles themselves have slotted seamlessly into our operation.”

Making the most of a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, the new fleet arrivals will be used to deliver materials and small plant, including mini excavators, to sites across the Midlands. On the road seven days per week, they will clock up around 12,000 miles annually and are expected to stay in operation for at least four years.

Degg continued: “Our drivers have been really impressed with them. The Grafters offer great visibility and certainly have some grunt, which is ideal as they’ll regularly be towing around two tonnes.

“We’ve already put them through their paces and they more than match the expected workload. Looking forwards, the plan will likely be to transition all of our 3.5-tonners to Isuzu.”

Equipped with dashcams, the new vehicles also come with the manufacturer’s three-year unlimited mileage warranty, alongside 24/7 roadside assistance, access to Isuzu Truck UK’s dealer network and its dedicated Customer CARE team.
