IAM launches new awards to find the UK’s best commercial drivers

The awards form part of the #IAMproud campaign, seeking to support drivers and fleets in taking the best care of themselves, their vehicles and their driving. 

Individuals are encouraged to nominate a colleague or employee who goes above and beyond the expectations of their role when it comes to driving as part of their profession. Whether the nominee has reduced their fuel use through conscientious driving, inspired other colleagues to improve their driving, or suggested introducing a driver training course to the company’s professional development portfolio, IAM Drive & Survive wants to hear about them. 

The IAM Drive & Survive Pride Awards will incorporate four categories:

  • Car driver of the year
  • Van driver of the year
  • HGV driver of the year
  • Bus driver of the year

The best driver in each category will win a driving experience day, with a choice of courses and locations across the UK. 

Entry to the competition will be open from the 2-30 June, and is invited via Twitter and LinkedIn only. 

Anybody wishing to nominate is asked to simply tweet @IAMDriveSurvive, completing the phrase ‘(driver’s name/twitter handle) is the UK’s best driver because . . .’ The competition can also be entered by posting to the company’s LinkedIn page. 

IAM Drive & Survive’s chief executive Simon Best said: ‘People who drive for work are among the most highly skilled on our road, especially if companies invest in training them. That’s why we are launching the #IAMproud awards for those drivers who are going above and beyond to improve their skills, and in doing so improving safety on our roads.
