IMEX downsizes fleet after turning to rental

Independent parts distributor IMEX has reduced vehicle numbers and improved efficiencies under a Sale & Rentback deal with TOM Vehicle Rental.

IMEX fleet
IMEX has replaced its fleet with a mix of liveried Citroen Dispatch XL Enterprise and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter LWB models.

The company was able to assess its operational by trying different van sizes after TOM implemented a fleet demonstrator programme. As a result, IMEX  has replaced its fleet of older, larger vehicles with new liveried Citroen Dispatch XL Enterprise and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter LWB models.

The switch to rental also means the company can expand its fleet as required in line with business growth and follows IMEX’s recent expansion of its depot network and the launch of an all-makes commercial vehicle parts programme.

Arthur Pinkney, managing director for IMEX, commented: “With a fleet of 52 vehicles operating throughout the UK, it became evident that we were focusing far too much time on the procurement, maintenance and disposal of these; time that was taking us away from our core business.

“We talked to a number of companies and decided that TOM were the right match for us. Their ability to meet our timescales with a flexible and no-nonsense approach was refreshing.”
